Kaia Gerber just turned 17-years-old in September, but she's already walked in every major fashion show of the season, starred in campaigns for Chanel, Alexander Wang, Calvin Klein, Marc Jacobs, Versace, and Miu Miu (to name a few), plus designed a line of clothing with Karl Lagerfeld. After signing a beauty contract with Marc Jacobs Beauty two years ago, the supermodel in the making has just signed yet another with YSL Beauty. Let us remind you—she's only seventeen.

“To be the new face of YSL Beauté is an opportunity to write a new story full of fun, color and makeup," Gerber said in a press release. "I love the DNA of a brand that is so subversive while being so luxurious and cool!” Her first campaign drops in January of 2019 and was shot with photographer David Sims, while her makeup was done by makeup artist and the brand's Global Beauty Director Tom Pecheux. Gerber will be the face of the Rouge Volupté Shine lipsticks, Touche Éclat line, and Mascara Volume Effet Faux Cils.

“The campaigns were so enjoyable to shoot – David (Sims) and I had both worked with Kaia before, so everything felt very easy, very connected, and we appreciated every moment,” Pecheux added in the brand's release.

The daughter of Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber, the model has been a star on the rise for the last several years, booking magazine covers and campaigns left and right. With nearly four million Instagram followers, Gerber sees her appointment as the face of a beauty brand as more than just a job—it's an opportunity to inspire others. “I think these days, everything you do has to be measured with a degree of responsibility," Gerber says. "If there are people who view me as a role model, I really hope to be able to create positive images and messages that inspire others to feel confident about the way they look, to look after themselves, and basically to be kind to themselves."

The brand sees Gerber as the embodiment of the "authenticity" and "edginess" of her generation. “Kaia is a blossoming talent with a unique sense of style and a stunning beauty," says Stephan Bezy, International General Manager of Yves Saint Laurent Beauté. "The perfect embodiment of her generation’s desire for authenticity and edginess, as a muse and ambassador she will convey these values which entirely resonate with what YSL Beauté stands for."
