Question: What's the best way to cover the undereye area and keep concealer from creasing throughout the day?

Answer: Under-eye concealer poses challenges no matter the season: In the summer, it's melted by the time you get to the office; in the winter, it's prone to settling into lines and looking dry and flaky. During the cold season, prep the night before with a heavy moisturizing eye cream, then switch to a lighter brightening formula in the morning. Once it's absorbed for 10 to 15 minutes, reach for an under-eye concealer a shade lighter than your skin tone—it should be "more pliant and light-reflective than your regular concealer, which is dense and opaque and used for situations that arise on the face," says Giorgio Armani celebrity makeup artist Tim Quinn—and a colour corrector (We like Maybelline Cover Stick Corrector Concealer—yellow covers purplish-blue dark circles and green covers redness).

"Apply the colour corrector by making small dashes next to nose and fanning out with a synthetic concealer brush. In between, make small dashes with your concealer—think of them as rays of light coming down and out from the under-eye," says Quinn, who then blends the dashes together with his ring finger in a tapping motion. To finish, you just need to set it gently with "the slightest touch of loose translucent powder, just a whisper, to help to prevent creasing, and if you find your concealer traveling during the day, a tiny bit of Giorgio Armani Crema Nera Eye Cream tapped along the outer edge and blended in toward your nose will refresh your undereye without adding another layer of concealer."
