This won’t budge nor leave you blotchy-faced by your 3pm meeting. Designed to be resistant to sweat, humidity and water, the oil-free liquid foundation feels weightless on skin, provides medium to high coverage and helps blurs the look of blemishes in a lasting matte finish. It doesn’t leave skin feeling dry or tight, and coverage can last up to 10 hours without touching up. Good for all skin types, you should use a small amount at any one time as the formula dries down quickly to adhere to the skin. $80, from Sephora

This oil-free liquid foundation leaves your complexion looking fresh even after a 10km evening jog outdoors – not that we are encouraging you to wear foundation to a run. The oil-free formula adheres to skin well and doesn’t come off easily when you accidentally touch your face. The medium-to-high coverage is buildable, and it covers redness and blemishes effectively. It also holds your blusher, highlight and contouring powder well. The finish is semi-matte, smooth and non-cakey looking. If you have combination or oily skin, this is your best bet as it has oil-absorbing ingredients to leave your complexion shine-free. $68, from Lancôme counters

Made for those who prefer a sheerer coverage, this foundation gives you that your-skin-but-better look. Lasting up to 10 hours, its super-fine pigments create a natural-looking finish that is hardly detectable. The foundation sets beautifully shortly after application so you don’t need a loose powder after and can go straight to the blusher with zero product transfer. It comes in a handy squeeze tube so it’s easy to control how much product you need. $74, from Sephora

This gives you serious staying power up to 10 hours even if you have oily skin. A little goes a long way as this densely textured foundation obliterates the appearance of greyish dark circles, redness and blemishes instantly with a thin layer. Start with a small amount and spread it quickly as it sets quickly and can be hard to blend if you take your time. The finish is semi-matte thanks to a formulation of two types of powders: one to blur the appearance of pores and the other to give you natural looking radiance.

Promising up to eight hours of wear, this is a long-wearing foundation stick that gives you concealer-like coverage, creamy texture of a liquid, and weightlessness of a powder for full coverage without a mask-like appearance. It covers redness and blurs imperfections like blemishes and fine lines, and provides a smooth, matte finish. It is also the perfect travel foundation being multi-purpose, lightweight and handy. $76, from Sephora

This budge-resistant, water-based foundation stays put on your skin for up to 12 hours. With a light coverage that is buildable, this lightweight formula makes fine lines look less obvious and can even cover redness and acne scars without looking cakey. It also doesn’t transfer much so you hardly get that foundation film on the screen of your mobile phones. $64, from Sephora

Don’t let its name fool you. The Anessa Perfect BB Base is a makeup base, long-wearing foundation and sunscreen rolled in one. The lightweight texture goes on thinly, and evens out your complexion with its sheer-to-medium coverage that lasts up to 12 hours. It’s the perfect base if you’re going to be outdoors in the sun, or sweating it out doing sports as it is resistant to sweat and water. You get good sun protection with its SPF50+ PA++++, and it also comes with an amazing technology that strengthens its sun protection element when skin comes into contact with sweat or water. $30.90, exclusively from Watsons

This cushion foundation keeps skin shine-free through heat and humidity, and is perfect for anyone with normal to oily skin. It gives you a semi-matte, semi-radiant finish with medium to high coverage. This creates a beautiful complexion as it significantly reduces the look of enlarged pores, redness, dark circles, and even makes your skin look smoother. The matte finish doesn’t make your skin feel or look dry. And for those with oily skin, this doesn’t oxidise at all, has effective oil control and you may not need to blot until after four to five hours. While most Korean cushions have similar colour codes, this runs a shade lighter so you should test it against your skin before purchase.

It not only lasts all day, it also has an anti-darkening technology which prevents the cushion from oxidation and darkening your shade after wearing for long hours. Thanks to its unique formula, it smoothes skin texture instantly for the illusion of flawless looking skin. It also contains gold pigments for a highlighting effect. For combination skin that’s dehydrated and oily, this cushion foundation adheres well and doesn’t fade for up to 12 hours. It gives you a powdery-smooth, matte finish that regulates sebum production and doesn’t leave skin feeling dry. The colours run with a tinge of apricot to counter and brighten skin dullness, and greyness (think dark circles). The foundation is said to be infused with oxygen to boost skin health, and has seaweed complex and plankton to moisturise skin. It is also made with deep-ocean thermal water and a self-cooling system that helps calm and hydrate irritated skin.
