Christian Louboutin is obviously well known for their iconic footwear but now, you may associate them with makeup. They are expanding their existing beauty range that consists of nail polishes, lip products and fragrances by adding a variety of eye products. And yes, it’s as iconic looking as their red-soled heels.
As with the other products in their beauty range, Christian Louboutin’s luxurious packaging for their new eye products are heavily influenced and inspired by ancient Egypt. With a gold and black combo, these makeup items look good enough to display in a museum. Here’s the low down on all the products they will be releasing:
Les Yeux Noirs Amplifying Mascara
This volumizing mascara, US$70 each, comes in a variety of shades, but the black offers inky, opaque coverage in one pass. Featuring nylon, plastic bristles to separate and comb through lashes, both the formula and brush is made to create a buildable dramatic lash. Of course, needless to say the packaging is just to die for. With a grooved, gold body and a shiny black top, the mascara has a retro glamorous feel, along with Christian Louboutin’s signature gold studs.

Who would’ve thought that Christian Louboutin would do brow products? These beauties, US$40 each, come in only 4 shades for now – Blonde, Brunette, Taupe and Auburn. They are sharpen-able and have a spoolie on the other side. The formula is a powder-gel hybrid that boasts smudge-proof, all-day wear. Hence you won’t find your eyebrows smeared across your face halfway through the day. The packaging continues on that retro vibe with a gold scalloped top on a black pencil with the Christian Louboutin logo stamped in the center.

Oeil Vinyle Luminous Ink Liner
The packaging of their liquid eyeliner screams Christian Louboutin, from the gold studs to the long spiked top, reminiscent of their nail polishes. The liquid liner, US$75 each, has a traditional brush tip applicator, perfect for Egyptian cat-eye flicks. This liner claims to be long wearing, waterproof and completely opaque. These are said to only be removable with a good oil-cleanser, once it dries on the lids. As the name suggests, the formula dries to a glossy black that looks as fierce as the bottle.
The Luminous Ink Liners come in 2 shades, black and the iconic Louboutin Red. And if you’re thinking red liner but my treading Geisha territory think again. Christian Louboutin demos how to wear red and look extremely badass. Lesson learnt: The bolder the line, the better.

Oeil Velours Velvet Eye Definer
These come in a similar packaging as the brow definers, sans the spoolie at US$40 each. But if you are expecting your run of the mill, black smudgy pencil liner, that just isn’t Louboutin’s style. A brand rep tells BAZAAR that Christian was inspired by Kathakali dancers from India who are known for their distinctive and extravagant makeup that emphasises the eyes. “The country’s rich culture and colours translated to products luxuriously saturated with rich pigments for the rest and deepest impact.” Therefore, these liners come in a plain black, followed by a chartreuse yellow, peacock blue, auburn and plum.
