Milan Fashion Week continued last night with the Fendi show, which saw the Italian fashion brand present a very unique new way to wear hairbands, by turning them backwards.

Kaia Gerber and the Hadid sisters were among the models to take to the catwalk for the show, wearing chunky, padded leather hairbands, which were worn backwards, sitting above the ear and across the back of the head.

The interesting touch gave the traditionally preppy accessory an edgy finish, a styling trick which will no doubt be snapped up immediately by the fashion crowd.

The headbands were teamed with everything from sleek matching dresses to top-to-toe leather looks in a collection that hoped to celebrate femininity – and all women – a message which came, in part, with the casting. The show saw plus-size model Paloma Elsesser take to the catwalk, a move which is historic for the fashion house, and could well signal a new, more inclusive, direction for the label, which is now being run by Silvia Venturini Fendi, following the passing of Karl Lagerfeld this time last year.
