Gigi Hadid, whose entire being is practically synonymous with the word “beauty,” has just confirmed what we all thought (but didn’t want out of envy) to be true: Her goddess-like looks are, for the most part, au naturel.
That enviable complexion? It’s no product of expensive cosmetics; but instead the result of a low-maintenance glam routine—inclusive of tinted moisturiser “when I’m feeling cute or got to sleep in” and drugstore remedies: “I put toothpaste on pimples to dry them out.” (Never has a supermodel been so relatable.)
“I wish I had the energy to do full makeup,” the 20-year-old tells W magazine in a new interview. “Honestly, like there are people that I’m even friends with that are full beauty, outfits, everything, looks every single day. And I wish I had that energy. I just don’t.”
And to some degree, she’s attempting to change that. “Since I became the face of [Maybelline], I’m trying to be more adventurous I’d say,” she explains. “Especially on the red carpet and stuff, I’m trying to spice it up.” Meaning she’s ditching her tried and true formula of a bronzed face and nude lip. She adds: “A lot of makeup artists got to know me [as that].”
While she’s taking tips from photo shoots and runway shows to help inspire a broader beauty palette, there’s one skin fix Hadid will never give in to: a Kim Kardashian-style vampire facial. “No, I would never try a vampire facial,” she admits. “That sounds so creepy.” More than agreed.
