Makeup artist to the stars, including Selena Gomez, Emily Ratajkowski, Bella Hadid and Kaia Gerber, Hung Vanngo (@hungvanngo) is especially known for creating flawlessly luminous skin. The Marc Jacobs Beauty Global Artistry Ambassador is also known for his editorial work, and have collaborated with top fashion titles, including Harper's BAZAAR.

Here, the makeup maestro teaches us a trick or two (or five) about perfecting our own makeup.

Tip #1: Beat The Heat

It can be tricky to achieve beautiful, glowing skin while controlling shine in a climate like Singapore. If you don't want to pile on products, try using a hydrating primer as a moisturiser. Alternatively, mix a gel highlighter with a sunscreen before applying onto your skin for just a light touch of glow. Just a bit of the Marc Jacobs Beauty Dew Drops Coconut Gel Highlighter does the trick. It has a very fine texture so it gives a very natural effect unlike some highlighters which have very big chunks of pigments. And if you're doing your midday touch up, use a tissue to blot away any sweat first before applying a powder to eliminate unwanted shine.

Tip #2: Make Your Eye Makeup Last

Always use an eye primer like the Marc Jacobs Beauty's Under(cover) Perfecting Coconut Eye Primer. Just a thin layer smooths creases and wrinkles, and creates a nice canvas on your lids so eyeshadow lasts longer on your skin.

Tip #3: Don't Overdo With Dark Eyeshadows

It's a common misconception that to women have to apply a lot of black or very dark eyeshadow to make their eyes look bigger. After you're prepped your lids with an eye primer, layer eye shadow over, applying from the lash lines to the crease area. From there, take a smudging brush to blend, extending just over the crease so that the eyeshadow just peeks through when you open your eyes. Excessive makeup can end up making your eyes look smaller.

Tip #4: Red Is Forever

Red lipstick is a classic, and it will continue to be one of the most desired looks as we move into 2018. So every woman should own some beautiful red lipsticks.

Tip #5: Embrace Pink

If you're want to experiment beyond the usual neutrals, try adding pink into your makeup look. Start with just a sheer wash of pink eyeshadow for a feminine touch. Or if you're feeling adventurous, try a bright pink eyeliner. You can be really creative and apply it at the corners of the eyes or directly on the waterline, or just a thin line on your top lash line.
