And, we dare say, in 2018, a new icon is born: Rouge Pur Couture The Slim matte lipstick.
Drawing inspiration from the Maison’s sartorial creations, YSL Beauty’s first ever super-slim square bullet is designed for easy, razor-sharp application. The luscious formula dresses up lips with a “couture leather matte” finish, its creamy texture gliding on seamlessly to deliver impressive ultra-matte pigment and full coverage in a single stroke. Comfortable, non-drying and long-wearing, this luxurious lip range is Tom Pecheux’s first for the brand as YSL Beauty's Global Beauty Director. “To create a volumising effect on lips, I would start at the centre of the upper lip, using the square corners of the bullet to create a distinct Cupid’s bow. Then work outwards, using the sides of the square to add a high-precision, sharply-defined lip line on both the top and bottom lips. This accentuates the natural curve of the lips, delivering that volumising 'push up' effect,” Pecheux explains.

The palette flaunts 24 couture shades—there’s a bold shade of red, pink, orange and nude for every skin tone—as well as a limited edition Black Opium Collector shade, a glittering burgundy hue. All this, housed in slender case inspired by the Le Smoking suit's cigarette pants; gleaming gold and matte black, embellished with the YSL logo.
