Face cream or mask? You choose. Bee Bottle Maison Matisse Edition 2023, $23,600, Guerlain
Guerlain’s Bee Bottle perfume flacon has been reinterpreted by artists over the years, sporting everything from Swarovski crystals to gem-encrusted bronze flowers to calligraphy. This year, for the iconic bottle’s 170th anniversary, the Bee Bottle Maison Matisse Edition 2023 is inspired by the motifs and colours of artist Henri Matisse’s painting La Musique. A fruity chypre fragrance, Couleur Bonheur, was created just for this edition, and only 14 pieces are available worldwide. Each bottle is hand-painted, signed and numbered, and housed in a wooden case reminiscent of crates used to transport precious pieces of art. There is only one piece in Singapore, propitiously numbered eight.

Retinol-based skincare is great for dull, oily and acne-prone skin but if your sensitive skin can’t tolerate it, try these retinol alternatives. They offer the same benefits of exfoliating, lightening pigmentation and boosting collagen production, minus the irritation, flaking or breakouts. Black Tea Advanced Age Renewal Cream, $164, Fresh It contains a blend of black tea and rambutan extracts which are naturally rich in antioxidants, and also support collagen synthesis for plumped-up skin. Packed with ceramides, squalane and pink porcelain lily, this cream improves hydration, skin firmness and elasticity.
Daily Dose Bioretinol + Mineral SPF40, $76, SuperGoop!
Containing bakuchiol, a plant extract which reduces the appearance of fine lines and evens out skin tone, this daytime treatment suits
most skin types, and protects against sun damage as well. A combination of collagen-boosting peptides, olive esters and glycerin plumps and keeps skin hydrated.

Advanced Retinol + Ferulic Intense Wrinkle Cream, $126, Dr Dennis Gross Though it does contain retinol, this cream is also formulated with bakuchiol and rambutan extracts which boost hydration and collagen production. Combined with ferulic acid, which is able to fade and reduce dark spots, skin appears plumper, more lifted and even-toned.
Retinol Alternative Cream, $148, Indie Lee This cream uses rambutan extracts in place of retinol, allowing skin to reap the benefits of the latter—collagen synthesis, firmer skin and reduction in the appearance of fine lines—without the side effects. Paracress extract, squalane and orange milk tree extracts help skin retain moisture while restoring glow.
