5 Makeup Looks To Make You A Blushing Beauty

See how the new "draping" technique is done

Colour me beautiful with dramatic blusher—using a technique called draping, which takes pretty hues from jawline to cheekbones, across temples and brow bones.

One of the easiest colours to pull off, coral is a well-balanced mix of cool and warm undertones that flatters virtually any complexion. To achieve the gleaming finish, buff a cream blush onto well-moisturised skin using a stippling brush for a perfectly diffused, airbrush-like effect. We like Clé de Peau Beauté’s Cream Blush in 3 Persimmon, $65. Complete the look with Bobbi Brown’s Art Stick Liquid Lip in Hot Tangerine for creamy lips that last all day. Necklace, Hermès. Sunkissed Coral

No longer reserved for those with deeper skin tones, brick-brown blushers are great alternatives for sculpting your features instead of conventional contour palettes. Formulated with a mix of red and brown pigments, they also add warmth to pale complexions and are great for draping novices. Start from the outer corners of the eyes and extend a muted brick shade like Dior’s DiorBlush in 849 Mimi Bronze towards your hairline to instantly make your eyes look more lifted. Next, apply it just under the cheekbones to softly add definition, before slicking on Urban Decay’s Vice Lipstick in Blackmail, $29. Necklace, Hermès. Jacket, Dior. Subtle Sepia

Reminiscent of the glamorous ’70s, this bold and unapologetic look is perfect for a sultry night out. Apply NARS’ Blush in Exhibit A, $50, directly on the temples and blend towards the top of your cheekbones and brow bones to create a C-shape that brings out your bone structure. Skip the liner and illuminate your eyes with Dior’s Flash Luminizer Radiance Booster Pen on the inner corners for a fresh take on this Grace Jones-inspired look. Finish with a slick of NARS’ Velvet Lip Glide in Mineshaft, $40, for a vibrant pout. Dress; earring, Saint Laurent by Anthony Vaccarello

Fiery Red

Make a statement with pops of the eye-catching hue at unexpected spots. Fuchsia applied just below the inner corners of your brows creates the illusion of deeper set eyes; using punchy pink blush instead of contour powder to sculpt your cheekbones also exudes a super cool, athletic vibe. The horizontal placement of the blusher helps balance out a wide forehead by making your jawline appear more angular—perfect for those with a heart-shaped face. Using an angled cheek brush, apply M.A.C’s Powder Blush in Full Fuchsia just beneath your cheekbones and blend towards the ears. Don’t forget to complement your look with Givenchy’s Le Rouge in 205 Fuchsia Irrésistible. Earrings, Hermès. Jacket, stylist’s own. Top, Dior

Edgy Fuschia

If the spring/summer 2017 runways of Chanel and Kenzo are any indication, it’s that draping—where blush is used in place of contour and highlight kits—is the new go-to when defining the cheeks, brow bones and even jawline. To slim and elongate rounder face shapes, dab a powder blusher with a satiny texture (try Make Up For Ever’s Artist Shadow Eyeshadow and Powder Blush in S920 Violet) just under the apples of your cheeks to create the illusion of a more angular face. Sweep the same shade all over the lids and match your lips with Tarte’s Tarteist Creamy Matte Lip Paint in Yaassss, $32, for a dreamy and modern take. Necklace, Céline. Dress, Versace
