Dior Beauty’s New Primers And Matte Lipsticks Are Your BFFs For A Hot Girl Summer
These new additions are JISOO and Thanaerng-approved.

Bangkok is famous for its vibrant culture, thriving shopping scene and world famous dining spots. But it is also known for its sweltering climate, making it the perfect place to celebrate Dior Beauty’s new products.
New Dior Forever and Rouge Dior products were unveiled, for the first time in Southeast Asia, in the penthouse suite of the Four Seasons Bangkok by Dior Beauty’s creative and image director Peter Philips. It was clear, listening to Philips’ sharing on the multitasking primers and new-generation matte lipsticks in front of me, that these were designed for the contemporary woman.

Dior’s newest products are a direct response to a generation who demands everything, immediately. Philips knows his clientele well, drawing inspiration from the women around him, as well as feedback from his customers. It is one thing to create makeup that lasts for a full day. It’s another thing altogether to combine it with the luxurious, skin-loving experience and chic packaging that Dior Beauty is known for.
The new complexion products and lipsticks claim to be budgeproof yet comfortable for up to 24 hours. With a trip schedule packed with dinners, a roundtable discussion and even an audience with Dior Beauty’s Thai ambassador Kanyawee Songmuang (better known as Thanaerng), what better opportunity to test drive these new additions first-hand?

The Dior Forever Skin Veil is one of Thanaerng’s top picks, and it has since become a staple in my daily routine as well.
As a beauty enthusiast who never really got the hype of primers until now, the Dior Forever Skin Veil surprised me with the difference it made to my routine. I’ve come to think of it as eight hours of sleep packed into a tube. Its colour-correcting peach pigments and a skincare-infused formula are a lifesaver for my complexion, which had been less-than-glowing because of back-to-back trips and a turbulent sleep schedule at the time. The result from using the weightless, serum-like primer is naturally radiant, imbuing my skin with a blurring “filter” on imperfections that lasted until the day ends.
While the Dior Forever Skin Veil is marketed as a primer, I love that it is good enough to wear alone too. Like its matte counterpart, the Forever Velvet Veil, it is designed to fit seamlessly into any lifestyle. “The Forever Skin Veil can be used under the Forever Skin Wear foundation to add a subtle luminous depth to the finished result,” Philips says of the multiuse primer. “If you don’t feel like wearing foundation, you can actually wear the Forever Skin Veil on its own and benefit from the skin-care qualities, the subtle luminosity and the SPF 50 protection.”

The two new matte lipsticks, which promise high performance and comfortable wear, were also on my radar. Rouge Dior On Stage Ink Blur Matte, an all-new liquid lipstick, was inspired by the trendy “cloud lip” look that features diffused colour and a blurred matte finish. A made-to-measure applicator complete with the Dior logo on the stem was developed to ensure easy use of the buildable formula. In my hands, it acted almost like a paintbrush— delivering the silky-smooth formula not in opaque swipes, but watercolour-like strokes. You could build layers of colour for a punchy, high-impact finish or smudge it out for a healthy flush.

Says Philips of the On Stage Ink Blur Matte: “What I like to do for a soft blurred lip is to apply it on the bottom lip and tap. It adds a tint with texture you don’t notice because it feels like a second skin.” So I did as he suggested with Dior Beauty’s emblematic 999, a universally flattering red that turned into an everyday cherry stain that stayed smudgeproof throughout dinner.
If you prefer the traditional bullet-style lipstick, On Stage Matte comes with a unique inverted teardrop shape. This makes it easy to define the lip line while its creamy formula delivers full, matte pigment in one stroke. As with the On Stage Ink Blur, you get a whole new look by switching your application technique. Smoothing on the light and airy formula gives you a rich coat of colour, while tapping it on gives the lips a velvety stain that also smoothes out lip lines.

Towards the end of his conversation with us, Philips shares one more bon mot: the Dior woman has essentially never changed. She is multifaceted, confident and knows who she is.
