From long braids to natural waves, here are the key spring/summer 2019 hairstyle trends to get on your radar.
Wet look hair is a recurring theme on the runways, but while it's a tricky trend IRL, this season–thankfully–the tone of the trend is rather wearable. Take your lead from Chloé where the hair was swept back with volume, a look that was slightly more lacquered at Altuzarra. Alternatively, try the Markus Lupfer style that was high-shine from root to tip, in a glossy–not greasy–way.

Unlike seasons past where pretty braids have been about romance, this season they mean business. Tough, sleek plaits were seen at Max Mara, Cushnie and Erdem. All were worn low and long, with super shine.

Micro fringes, or 'baby bangs' were seen at Prada and Miu Miu (accessorised with luxe headbands), as well as at Dries Van Noten. The hairstylists behind these styles were Guido Palau and Sam McKnight, arguably the two most influential names in seasonal hair trend-setting. Expect it to take off.

Sleek is back, with styles shimmering down the catwalks boasting ultra-reflective finishes. From near-graphic half-up 'dos like at Missoni, to precision ponytails at Christopher Kane and picture-perfect buns at Burberry and Moschino, these minimal styles go max on the shine.

Hair accessories were all over the catwalks, from chic clips and clasps at Versace, Miu Miu and Chanel, to oversized double bows at Emilia Wickstead, headbands at Dior, and headscarves paired with fresh roses at Dolce & Gabbana. The takeaway? Go all out and experiment.

Deconstruct your beachy waves this season and focus on the notion of natural movement instead of full bodied twirls. Shows incuding Etro, Roberto Cavalli, Bulmarine, Philosophy di Lorenzo Serafini, Chanel and Jeremy Scott all proved this point, with floaty down 'dos that oozed effortless, undone glamour.

Playful colour is a sure trend for spring/summer, but think of it as more glamorous, less Glastonbury. Colourist Josh Wood gave models 'vintage pastels' at Marc Jacobs (Jacobs didn't want 'fun' colour), while bolder rainbow shades reigned at Matty Bovan and at Giambattista Valli mermaid waves dipped in pink and silver glitter stole the show.
