Rosie Huntington-Whiteley Shares Tips On How To Look Good for Your Zoom Meetings

Q: Were you surprised when Hourglass approached you to be the new ambassador?

A: It’s been a really natural relationship, really. I’ve been a big fan of the brand now for over seven years and was introduced to the brand through a makeup artist of mine, and she used the products on me. I just fell in love immediately with the formulations and the packaging and went the next day and bought myself some of the products and have really been using them since in my personal makeup routine.

When I launched Rose Inc., I started to do tutorials and talk about the products within the tutorials and use them for various looks. Then the brand and I connected, and I went for lunch with the founder Carisa Janes, and we started working on a few smaller projects on the site and it grew into this bigger partnership where I became the first face of Hourglass. So, it wasn’t so much of a surprise as just a really exciting partnership to begin and to work on.

Q: What are some of your favorite go-to products?

A: Some of my favorite go-to products would be the Veil Eye Primer. Especially in the summer -  I don’t know if other people experience this - but sometimes I get creased eyeshadow where it transfers from eyelid onto the top of my eye. So, the eye primer just really helps hold any eyeshadow in place. It also just preps the whole entire lid area for any kind of eyeshadow that you’re wearing throughout the day. It just gives you longevity for any kind of eye look that you might have. I actually really love wearing it on its own as well because it has this slight, bright, soft neutral shade. It sheers across the eye and it just looks really beautiful, even on its own, which I discovered when Marc first tried the product on me a few months ago. So that’s a great product.

And also the new setting spray, which is fantastic. Again, coming into the summer months, if you’re wearing makeup throughout the day and you really want it to stay, or you have a special event coming up, once we’re out of isolation, and you want your makeup to last from morning to night it’s really going to do that. Another thing I like to do is have it in my handbag and refresh and rejuvenate my makeup throughout the day. And then, I’m a big fan of the Vanish concealer, which launched in January. I have literally only used this concealer since January. I have not applied foundation to my face, personally, since this concealer launched. It is so incredible because the formulation is full coverage, but at the same time, it doesn’t look cakey or heavy. I can apply it exactly where I need it and blend it and build it and it’s just got this really beautiful satin-like finish to it. So, it’s not creamy, but it’s also not thick and heavy either; it’s absolutely perfect.

And then the Confession lipsticks are absolutely beautiful. Again, one of my favorite formulations of lipsticks on the market. The ‘You Make Me’ shade is my signature shade, which I chose because it’s a really unique terracotta nude color. I just really loved the way it looked in the day, and the way I could build it up and it would look more impactful at night. And then my last --- I mean I could go on and on! Every product has a reason I love it. But I’d say the final product, would be a toss-up between the Ambient Lighting Palette, because it’s so universal for everybody to use this palette and such a great finishing powder, and the bronzing powders because that was the first product I ever tried from the brand back when my makeup artist used it.

Q: You mentioned ‘You Make Me’, your personal signature Confession shade. What about it spoke to you? Was it obvious when you saw it, right away, that this was the shade for you?

A: No, actually it wasn’t obvious at all. I typically always lean towards natural, blushy colors when it comes to lipstick. Something that’s probably very close to my lip color already. I have quite strong pigment in my lips, so I never love the way a real nude will look across my mouth.

Although, I love reds, I typically wear them for special events. So when I picked up this color I thought it was a quite unique color, and I swiped it on the back of my hand and threw it on and I wore it throughout the day. I was just really surprised about how much I liked wearing it and how good it looked. I received multiple compliments on it throughout the day, so I thought that was a good sign. I love the way it looks kind of pushed into the mouth and blotted back almost like when you blot it with a piece of paper, it can look more like a stain. And then in the evening build it up and it gets very creamy and dense looking and really impactful. It’s a color I actually wasn’t naturally drawn to, but something that pushed me out of my comfort zone which was a fun choice for me. I think it looks really different and unique on everybody, but it also seems to suit so many people which is another reason I was really drawn to it as well.

Q: You only have five minutes and three products you can choose for an emergency Zoom meeting. What do you pick and why?

A: That’s easy! So I immediately would use the Vanish concealer, and just dot it around any areas I need more a little more coverage. Typically for me that’s under my eyes, around my chin, around the edges of my nose, any spots I might have. The great thing about that concealer as well is that it’s so quick and easy to blend, so you literally just stipple and swipe the brush a few times and you’re done. And then after that I would do my eyebrows. I would use the Arch Eyebrow Pencil. I use mine in ‘Warm Blonde’ and again, really, really easy to fill in my eyebrows with that. Super quick and super impactful. Lastly, I would probably choose, if it’s only three products, I would do a blush. I would use one of the Ambient Lighting Powder Blushes. I think my favorite is ‘Incandescent’ at the moment.
