It’s official: cushion foundations are no longer just a Korean thing. In fact, they are invading women’s beauty hauls stashes all over the world, thanks to a slew of Western big names introducing their take of the nifty little compact that had already taken Asia by storm. And of the lot, there is one that particularly earned its spot in my go-to stash: Le Cushion Encre de Peau by YSL Beauté.
First of all, I have to admit that I was previously obsessed with the existing Fusion Ink Foundation. Its ultra-fine formula glided smoothly over skin with each application and offered high foundation while remaining virtually weightless all day long.
So when YSL Beauté revealed that its foray into the cushion foundation category is to put this featherweight, long-lasting formula into a unique air-filled cushion, I was estatic. One can only imagine my excitement to give it a go as soon as it landed on my desk. It didn’t fail me indeed: it offered buildable coverage with a super light and streak-free texture. And best of all? Its luminous matte finish was elegant and sophisticated — definitely love at first use.
Plus, in true YSL style, it is encased in black and gold — très chic, non?
