One of the biggest nights on the fashion calendar, the Met Gala, takes place tomorrow, meaning we will soon see how the world's biggest designers and stars tackle the theme of 'Camp'. Although, as is always the way, there will be various takes on the theme with some nailing it and others going a little more low-key, we can expect this year to see excess, extravagance and exaggeration all over the red carpet.

So, although most of the looks worn at the gala on Monday night will be custom and never seen before, we have rounded up 10 dresses from the most recent couture shows that we think would expertly tackle this year's theme of 'Camp' dressing.

From Lady Gaga to Beyoncé, Kim Kardashian West to Amal Clooney, here's how we hope fashion's biggest names show up to the Met on 6 May.

1. Lady Gaga in Jean Paul Gaultier

Lady Gaga delivered in elegance time and time again throughout awards season, keeping it classic in structured yet simple designs from Alexander McQueen, Valentino and Dior. And while she nailed every single look, the Met Gala seems like the perfect opportunity to revisit some old Gaga OTT style, which is why we'd love to see her in this extravagant Jean Paul Gaultier design.

2. Beyoncé in Viktor & Rolf

The Met Costume Institute's curator Andrew Bolton has described Viktor & Rolf's most recent couture collection as a potential "poster child for the exhibition" because its tongue-in-cheek, over-the-top dresses could not be more fitting for the theme. It is pretty much guaranteed that someone will wear one of the frocks on Monday night – and who better than Beyoncé? For one of the most famous women on the planet to wear this dress on one of the most photographed red carpets of all time would make for an iconic moment.

3. Rihanna in Schiaparelli

Each year, Rihanna pulls out all the stops for the Met Gala, never shying away from a theme and always landing on every best-dressed list going. From arriving dressed as the Pope last year to her iconic Guo Pei 'omelette' dress, she must wear the biggest and boldest look of the night, making this enormous, tiered Schiaparelli dress an excellent option for the star.

4. Kim Kardashian West in Balmain

Never one to be a wallflower on the red carpet, you can pretty much guarantee that Kim Kardashian West will make a few headlines on the night of the Met Gala, particularly given her bold vintage fashion choices of late. Although this ensemble could be the most daring look of them all, if anyone can pull it off, it's a Kardashian. This dress is from her close pal Olivier Rousteing's very first couture collection for Balmain too meaning that it might just be the perfect choice.

5. Serena Williams in Alexis Mabille

Serena Williams will be swapping the court for the carpet as she co-chairs the Met Gala for the first time. Although she does tend to keep it classic, we think this exaggerated yellow cape will tick all the boxes in terms of theme and glamour, but won't take her too far outside her style comfort zone.

6. Amal Clooney in Schiaparelli

Another star who may pull it back slightly is Amal Clooney, who tends to nod to the theme in a subtle and elegant way. With that in mind, we think this feathered, colourful creation from Schiaparelli would be right up her alley, perhaps paired with some striking jewels.

Bella Hadid's red-carpet ensembles are pretty much always about embracing sex appeal. From her sheer Alexander Wang catsuit to countless naked dresses, the supermodel loves to show some skin, making this beaded Zuhair Murad leotard with its extremely extravagant feather boa an ideal option for nailing the theme, while still being in-keeping with her usual style.

8. Blake Lively in Ralph & Russo

Blake Lively has been somewhat addicted to the trouser suit this past year – and there is no reason why she won't continue her love for them at this year's Met Gala. Ralph & Russo's gloriously girly take on the trend (with matching hat) would be a perfect choice for the actress.

Priyanka Chopra is known for her glamour and sophistication, she loves an enormous gown and isn't afraid to go bold on the red carpet. Therefore, we think this pink, ruffled Valentino dress and headpiece would steal the show and land her on every best-dressed list going.

10. Sophie Turner in Chanel

Chopra's now sister-in-law, Sophie Turner literally got married this week in Las Vegas, meaning it would be a head-turning, headline-making moment if she turned up to the Met Gala in one of Chanel's most OTT couture finale bridal looks of all time. She probably won't, but wouldn't it be amazing if she did?
