Awards season is officially upon us! Kicking off the New Year is the 82nd annual Golden Globes held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Hollywood, California. Hosted by comedian Nikki Glaser—who made history as the first woman to host the Golden Globes solo—the star-studded affair celebrated excellence in film and television. Leading the nominations this year included films Emilia PérezAnora, The Substance, Challengers, Babygirl, and Wicked; while The Diplomat, Shogun, The Bear, Hacks, and more were nominated for television awards.

Hollywood’s top stars hit the glitzy red carpet before the awards ceremony, and it was certainly a sight to behold. With a history of being graced with some of the most memorable red carpet dresses of all time, this year’s looks did not disappoint. A standout trend? Gold. From Ariana Grande’s Givenchy archival piece to Demi Moore’s sculptural Armani Privé gown and Cate Blanchett’s custom Louis Vuitton number embellished with sparkly cape details (she wore the same gown eight months ago at the Cannes Film Festival in May 2024, proving that outfit-repeating is chic)—there were plenty of golden hues and embellishments fitting for the occasion. There were also metallics, like Nicole Kidman’s silver backless Balenciaga fit and Angelina Jolie’s beaded Alexander McQueen creation; pops of red as seen on Dakota Fanning and Emma Stone, as well as black gowns in various designs on Miley Cyrus, Michelle Yeoh and Zoe Saldana.

The men also brought their A-game to the red carpet: Andrew Scott arrived in a baby blue Vivienne Westwood suit, Timothée Chalamet wrapped his Tom Ford tie around his neck like a scarf, and Andrew Garfield looked dapper in a dark green Gucci suit.
