This year, Selena Gomez skipped the Met Gala after shooting Only Murders in the Building, which takes place in New York City, a week prior to the event.
You wouldn't know that if you saw this impressively photoshopped picture making rounds on the Internet, though. Picturing Gomez wearing Lily James' 2022 Met Gala gown by Atelier Versace, this tweet by a fan is now going viral - to the point where it's getting more attention than some of the celebrities who were actually at the Met Gala.

The tweet was later updated with fact-checking context from Twitter, pointing out that Gomez did not attend the gala. More than 22 million people viewed the image and 300,000 people liked it. They don't call her the most-followed woman on Instagram for nothing.

Gomez was last seen at the Met Gala in 2018. The fake tan she wore that night was later dubbed one of her biggest beauty disasters. “While I was getting ready for the Met Gala a few years ago, we put on a bit of tanning lotion and it looked beautiful, but as the night went on it kept getting darker and darker,” she told Glamour UK in February 2022. Despite the faux pas, she still managed to turn heads with her stunning gown.
