BAZAAR got off to a good start in 2022 with actress Julia Garner, ahead of her star turn as the con artist Anna Delvey in Shonda Rhimes' Netflix miniseries Inventing Anna. With a distressed bouffant and smoky eyes, dressed in off-the-shoulder gowns and classy separates, our cover shoot gave Garner the glamour treatment the real-life Anna Delvey could only dream of.

There's no one who better defines Gen Z talent than social media starlet Emma Chamberlain, who built her entire career on YouTube and Instagram, racking up an impressive 27 million followers and counting across both platforms along the way. Only 20 years old at the time, Chamberlain opened up to BAZAAR about her authentic stream-of-consciousness style and why her content has struck a nerve with people her age, transforming her into a fashion darling and de facto Gen Z spokesperson nearly overnight.

The arrival of the summer season this year brought lots of renewed interest in travel, as Singapore began loosening its strict Covid restrictions and opening up to the world yet again. BAZAAR marked this milestone by paying tribute to the pets who kept us all company during lockdown, closing a chapter of over two years of pandemic fashion trends which surely won't be missed.

BAZAAR is proud to have had so many young stars grace our covers this year. But June - the peak of many countries' summer season and a time when millions of young students go on holiday - was the perfect moment to dive in to the nostalgia of youth and exactly what that concept means. Actress Whitney Peak, who stars in the revamped reboot of the legendary American teen drama Gossip Girl, perfectly defines that aesthetic as a new star helming a revived classic for a new generation of youth.

Actress Pom Klementieff was the perfect cover star for our July issue, dedicated to redefining what the word 'sexy' means today during the hottest month of the year. Far from revealing too much, the pink, fluffy fashion we chose for Klementieff covered everything up to her neck. A very subtle touch of eroticism, subverting societal expectations.

Does fashion make a star or do the stars make fashion? These days, it surely seems to be the latter - as Editor-in-Chief Kenneth Goh discussed in his editor's note for November, Paris Fashion Week returned in full force this fall after over two years of pandemic restrictions, with plenty of star power to show for it. Stars like Jisoo from Blackpink and Kylie Jenner seemed to draw more attention to fashion week than the fashion itself, making this a compelling question to explore for our November issue.
