Is there any outfit more perfect for a Barbie premiere than one involving butterflies, rainbows, and chainmail?

Dua Lipa included that trifecta in her dazzling look for the European premiere of Greta Gerwig’s forthcoming film, which officially drops in theatres on July 21. For the latest pink-carpet event, the singer—who makes a cameo in the movie as a mermaid Barbie—pulled a dress from “La Vacanza,” the Versace collection she recently co-designed with Donatella Versace.
Lipa’s chainmail slip dress is completely covered in a vivid rainbow-coloured print displaying Technicolor flowers and butterflies. Other details include golden straps designed in the shape of the Italian fashion house’s logo, a bust with butterfly-shaped cutouts, and a scalloped plunging neckline.
The pop star continued the butterfly theme with her shoes: a strappy pair of metallic-blue heels with tiny sparkly butterflies adorned all over. Blue and purple butterfly decorations were also interspersed in her jewelry, which prominently displayed Versace’s signature gold medallion in the form of earrings, choker necklaces, and gold chain bracelets.

Lipa and Versace debuted “La Vacanza” with a French Riviera runway show held during the Cannes Film Festival in May. “We wanted to make the holiday wardrobe and something that I’ll wear all summer, but also something other people will love and enjoy,” the singer said at a press conference at the time.

Donatella Versace praised the Grammy winner in a statement. “Working with Dua on this collection has been very exciting and I love the dynamic between us,” the designer said. “Dua is strong, fearless, and free and her creative vision is exceptional.”
