Blake Lively explained her reasons for acting as her own stylist at an event at Barneys in New York.

"Probably because I have control issues and a big ego—that’s probably the honest answer," she joked before getting serious. "I just like it. I love design and I love fashion and it’s a way to be creative. In my job I get to be creative, but it’s over a period of time and so many other people are involved, whereas this is a beginning, middle and end, and I get to be creative and there’s an end date in the near future. It’s the same reason why I like doing my friends’ hair and makeup or cooking—you get to be creative and finish it. Whereas with my job you do it and then two years later it’s finished. It probably goes back to the control issues; it’s like, ‘Ok I did it, I completed it, it’s done!’"

"I make no distinction between what I wear on the street and the stage; it’s all just my style," she told Vogue. "I don’t work with a stylist, and I never plan what I’m going to wear, it’s always an of-the-moment thing."

"I can't even dress myself," she told People in 2012. "But the only reason I don't use a stylist is because I feel like if I'm going to fall, I'd rather it be on me."

"I don't like the idea of paying people to tell me that something looks good," she told Elle in 2009. "If I don't feel it myself, why would I wear it?"

"I still style myself. For the red carpet, I often borrow dresses from designers though because that's easier in a way," she explained. "You give it back and you don't have to go shopping for it."

"I think firing my stylist has allowed me to be more free. I was getting molded into this thing that wasn’t who I am," the former Gossip Girl star explained in 2010.

"Blake doesn’t use anybody. Sienna Miller, Diane Kruger, Kate Moss—they all have a very specific idea of how they like to look and how they put themselves together and they have great style," stylist Sasha Charnin Morrison told Fashionista in 2011. "But most actresses need stylists because they simply don’t have the time or the resources to do all that shopping for a junket. They don’t know where to go or how to make it fit right."

Sienna Miller also made stylist Sasha Charnin Morrison's list of stars who style themselves.

"Because I love fashion and I'm that shallow," she joked when the Huffington Post asked why doesn't use a stylist. "No, I just love playing with clothes, it's really fun. I email the PRs or designers myself and I pick what I want and they send it to me. And then it gets FedExed back and I never see it again."

"The only modern celebrity I can think of to say I could admire is Diane Kruger, because she doesn't use a stylist," she told Stylist in 2011. "She's like me, we go choose our clothes ourselves, without an entourage."

"I really dress myself. I’ve been known to put a necklace in my hair. That’s what getting dressed should be," she told Vogue in 2010. "It’s about fun and experimenting. I think you either enjoy it or you don’t—and I do."
