Learn your chants

While not as elaborate as those you would see at K-pop concerts, the fan chants for the Eras Tour seem to be a mix of Swiftie community favourites, iconic lyrics shouted out and emphasised along with rhythmic claps, as well as viral lines posted on TikTok by fans, repeated by fellow Swifties, that have stuck ever since.

“You Need To Calm Down”

The upbeat song about equality for all is especially celebrated by the LGBTQ+ community and their allies. Be prepared to shout the line: “ Cause shade never made anybody less gay!”

“You Belong With Me”

Although not technically a chant, this song involves the audience doing a rhythmic double clap in the middle of the bridge after the lyrics: “ When you know you’re bout to cry”.

“Marjorie”

Again, not really a chant, but it’s definitely one to make the night special. Swift wrote the song to honour her late grandmother. Hence, at recent Eras Tour shows, we have seen numerous TikToks of the audience holding up their flashlights for the entirety of the song, replicating a sea of stars.

“Delicate”

Prepare to sing your heart out after the intro of the song and before the first verse. Originating from Swiftie TikToker, Emily Valencia, who went viral doing the chant after Taylor sings: “But you can make me a drink” the audience responds with “One, Two,Three, let’s go b*tch!”

“All Too Well” (10 minute version)

Yes, we know this song literally “All Too Well”; the alleged story behind it, as well as the music video starring Dylan O’Brien and Sadie Sink. Naturally, this song has to have a fan chant, and it comes after: “and you were tossing me the car keys…” with  the audience shouting back: “F*ck the Patriarchy”. The verse trended as a viral TikTok sound, and this line has since been solidified into a permanent fan chant.

“Bad Blood”

From the glimpses we’ve seen of the Eras Tour, Swift sings the OG version of “Bad Blood” without the Kendrick Lamar feature seen in the star-studded music video. Fans typically take on the rapper’s part by belting out the lyrics “You forgive, you forget, but you never let it go!” after Swift sings the line: “Band-Aids don’t fix bullet holes / You say sorry just for show / If you live like that, you live with ghosts”.

“Anti-Hero”

This fan chant originates from the special remix of the song featuring The Bleachers, which includes a line where the band’s lead singer and Swift’s long-time friend, Jack Antonoff, shouts, “Taylor, you’ll be fine” after the lyrics, “Did you hear my covert narcissism I disguise as altruism / Like some kind of congressman?”

“Karma”

This is the latest and most recent addition to the Eras Tour fan chants. Swift replaced the “guy on the screen” line with “guy on the Chiefs” while singing the song in the South American leg of her tour. Swifties worldwide instantly caught onto the cheeky nod to her new beau, and Kansas City Chiefs player, Travis Kelce, and have since begun shouting it at every concert. It goes after the lyrics, “Sweet like justice, karma is a queen, karma takes all my friends to the summit.”

Get crafty

Leave it to Taylor Swift to turn a lyric into a worldwide phenomenon. Besides Swift herself, the most recognisable symbol present at each concert are the friendship bracelets. The making and exchanging of friendship bracelets has become a symbolic tradition at the Eras Tour concerts.

Swifties around the world have been making dozens of beaded bracelets to exchange with fellow fans, with the nostalgic accessory embellished with letter beads spelling out Taylor Swift songs, titles and eras. This trend specifically originates from her song “You’re On Your Own, Kid” from the lyrics, “Make the friendship bracelets, take the moment and taste it.”

Since the announcement of The Eras Tour back in November 2022, thousands of bracelets have been exchanged, between fans and even celebs like Swift’s bestie, Selena Gomez, Blake Lively, actor Paul Rudd and of course, Travis Kelce, among numerous others. So, why not try your hand at bracelet-making, make some friends and have a keepsake from the night of your “Wildest Dreams”, all at once?

Count down with a themed cake

This particular activity is inspired by a scene in the “Blank Space” music video, which shows the pop star passionately sticking a knife into a heart-shaped cake, with an unexpected red filling splattering out, representing a broken heart.

Swifties took to TikTok to showcase their own variations of the unconventional yet cool cake, which quickly became a trend in October 2023. Bakers on the platform demonstrated how to achieve the red ooze with a combination of red fruit and white chocolate or fondant draped on top to give a similar appearance to the cake in the video.

Though the cake may be tricky to recreate, just imagine the satisfaction when you finally get to cut into it.

Brush up on Sabrina Carpenter’s songs

Have the ultimate sing-a-long night by memorising not just Swift’s songs, but her opening act, Sabrina Carpenter, as well. The Disney star turned singer needs no introduction, with massively successful songs under her belt, most notably, “Feather” and “Nonsense”. Carpenter is well-known for her cheeky tradition of changing up the outro of the song “Nonsense”, in which she expertly customises each outro to fit the city she is performing in. Fans adore her creativity and spunky twists to the customised outros, with each one-of-a-kind verse regularly going viral on social media.
