Lady Gaga shut down the Met Gala right when it started. The Oscar-nominated singer, who is one of the hosts for this year's high fashion extravaganza, kicked off the night with a surprise performance where she showed off not just one, but four killer outfits for the night—all by her trusted stylist-turned-designer Brandon Maxwell.
She started off with a voluminous hot pink gown with a train, stripped down to a strapless black number, shed that layer to reveal a hot pink bodycon dress, and changed a final time into lingerie and tights. Gaga is the poster child of this year's Met theme, camp, considering her reputation for over-the-top looks on the red carpet. Tonight, she proved no one can do camp like her.
The range of looks and her level of extra were simply too much for the Internet to handle. Twitter embraced Gaga's campy sartorial display into the perfect meme. Most users bowed down to how epic her arrival was to begin with.

Of course, Gaga doesn't do a performance without the right props. In addition to her umbrellas and wagon of champagne (yes that is correct), she also brought a '90s-style black telephone bag by Judith Leiber to pose with (or to perhaps call all the other guests to tell them that she had already won the red carpet).
