MTV Video Music Awards 2024: The Best-Dressed Celebrities On The Red Carpet

Now, this is how you dress up for the VMAs.

The MTV Video Music Awards has always been a playground for provocative fashion. The 2024 ceremony was no different, with an extensive best-dressed list of celebrities and artists who showed up and showed out.

BLACKPINK’s Lisa was a black-carpet powerhouse, stunning in a custom nude Mugler gown with a dramatic hood, beaded bustier and a glorious Serpenti necklace by Bvlgari. Brazilian singer and songwriter Anitta followed suit with a bridal-inspired minidress and an accompanying hood by Dolce&Gabanna.

Taylor Swift, Katy Perry, Tinashe and Tyla opted for asymmetrical ensembles from the likes of Dior, Rick Owens, Area and Who Decides War that bared some skin while remaining undeniably elegant at the same time.

Your favourite artists’ favourite artist Chappell Roan leaned into her drag persona with a theatrical and medieval sheer gown by Y/Project, armoured boots and adornments including an actual sword. But, she wasn’t the only one who went down the gothic route.

Suki Waterhouse pulled up in an all-black look featuring a feathered bolero by Dolce&Gabanna while Camila Cabello and Tate McRae donned black lace dresses—the latter was a homage to what VMAs legend Britney Spears wore on the 2001 red carpet. This sweet tribute also foreshadowed the other nods to the pop princess later that evening during the performances.

As expected, some stars would not miss an opportunity to shine like a diamond. Sabrina Carpenter was a brilliant sight, literally, in vintage Bob Mackie that was simply beaded to perfection from top to bottom. Paris Hilton glistened in a sparkling custom look by Celia Kritharioti and a slew of crystal chokers. Coco Jones made a statement in a bow-tastic Lever Couture gown and a sophisticated assortment of diamond jewellery.

The boys also pulled out their best with the likes of Shawn Mendes and Måneskin’s Damiano David looking suave in suits by Dolce&Gabanna and Etro. Men on the red carpets have also been rocking magnificence jewellery this year, and we have to give it up to David for the chunky Tiffany & Co. brooch perched on his jacquard lapel.
