Nicki Minaj had some...choice words

After butchering Camilla Cabello's name on stage, Haddish gave a shoutout to her former bandmates saying, "Those of you watching at home...hi Fifth Harmony!" Ouch.

After Tiffany Haddish made her comment underscoring Camilla Cabello's success since leaving Fifth Harmony, Nikki Minaj took the stage, thanked Haddish, and said, "Don't be coming for Fifth Harmony because Normani is that bitch."

Pete and ArianaNick and PriyankaJustin and Hailey—they've all had speedy engagements this summer, and Haddish wasn't afraid to acknowledge the trend on stage. “Why are so many celebrities getting engaged? Is there a sale at Bed, Bath and Beyond that I didn’t hear about?” she said before presenting the award for Best Hip Hop Video.

The VMA's opened up with none other than Cardi B., who referred to herself as "the empress" on stage (followed by an evil laugh) just a few days after Nicki Minaj released her new album entitled Queen.

Just a few days after Nicki Minaj criticized Travis Scott's new album 'Astroworld'—and, for some reason, Kylie Jenner and new baby Stormi Webster—Travis Scott yelled "Rest in peace the queen of soul, Aretha Franklin. Astroworld number one right now!" His comment appears to be the subtlest of jabs at Nicki Minaj's new album, Queen.

While walking the red pink carpet before the start of the show, Ashanti took a moment to put JLo in the hot seat. When asked what part of the show she was the most excited about, Ashanti said "Honestly I'm excited to see JLo. I think it's amazing she's getting honored tonight. Hopefully she'll perform one of the songs I wrote for her." Emphasis on the "I."

Cardi B. opened the 2018 VMA's carrying what looked like new baby Kulture wrapped in a pink blanket. It turned out to be a Moonman statue, but Cardi B. didn't let Offset in on the prank. The "Bodak Yellow" singer later Tweeted "Why Set said I was sooo mad, when i saw you on stage with that blanket I thought you was going to show Kulture."
