Go On A Great Escape With Our Luxe December 2016 Issue!

Editor-in-Chief Kenneth Goh introduces us to the Great Escape issue

december 2016

In the blink of an eye, we’ve come to the end of the year. Christmas beckons, as does a whole host of year-end festivities ushering in the New Year at the start of January, and Chinese New Year at the end. It’s going to be a jam-packed party month or two, and you have to look your absolute best.

Nothing worse than having spent the year slogging away and for a friend to say, “Has it been a tough year?” or worse, “Wow, you’re looking prosperous... Good year?” It’s both ends of the spectrum but nonetheless, the same sad sentiment—you either look haggard or bloated.

Beat the bulge, and go on a sartorial escape, with a slew of clever fashion options in our Shop pages, from couture fantasies to party essentials. They will mask imperfections and help you look ravishing sans punishing gym routine. For those who made a mint this year, splurge on some haute couture confections like the beauties our Senior Fashion Editor, Windy Aulia, shot in Paris. Gerald Tan also gives you the lowdown on all the key couture shows that will have you salivating for a slice of Gallic chic—it’s your cheat sheet for delightful cocktail chatter over mulled wine. If exploring the Great Outdoors is more your thing, go crazy for cruise and cross pastures in floral dresses and orange Crocs (yes, you read that right!) as styled by BAZAAR’s Global Fashion Director, Carine Roitfeld.

And perfect it all with gorgeous party looks as suggested by Senior Beauty Writer Joyce Cheo, who’ll get you red-carpet ready in seconds with nifty makeup tools and clever how-to tricks. For those looking for a ticket to paradise, Lifestyle Editor Dana Koh has some wonderful options—from the lush environs of the world’s most luxurious beach resort in Bali to whale-watching on a yacht off the Hamilton Islands in Australia.

Back on the home front, our annual Stylish Women shoot was conceptualised around each individual’s signature look. Be it the perfect working wardrobe for eight to late, or rocking the au courant sporty cool vibe, these fabulous women know what works for them, time and time again.

I, for one, am going to mentally check out and imagine myself in a far-off island but in the comfort of my own four walls. Burn a Diptyque candle and play some Bossa Nova. I’ll be thinking Rio, in jammies and air-conditioned comfort.

Pass me the Cheetos, thanks. Merry Christmas, readers.
