About Alwyn:
Like any other teenager, Alwyn went through a teenage phase that caused him to rebel. But, that phase led him to fashion. Despite his parents’ objection, he went on to pursue his passion in the industry, and went on to become one of the top 5 finalists in Malaysia Project Runway. He has designed from made-to-measure clothes to bridal wear.
What inspires him?
Titled “Ukiyo–The Floating World”, his SS15 collection was inspired by silhouette in the 90s and influences of the Edo-period Japan that tells the story of Ukiyo, The Floating
World. The collection is based on creating a strong individual identity, with pieces such as shirt dresses and smoking jackets engineered to be worn in multiple ways. Kabuki face painting contributes to the core print of the collection, accessorised with an inspirational geisha obi belt.
Brand ethos:
Japanese supernatural stories and histories will always be a part of Alwyn’s brand. He designs his collections with a tinge of fiendish untold past.
About Evelyn:
Evelyn’s early interest in Fashion Design began at the age of 14, where she chose to pursue it in high school. After which, she took her passion further by participating in the Kronenbourg L’Aperitif Fashion Award and was shortlisted as one of the finalists.
What inspires her?
Nature and in particular the Grand Canyon was what inspired her collection; hence the name “Pilgrimage”. Her collection pays tribute to the force of nature, which can be seen on the printed linen wool fabrics. Fringe, layering and silk organza are just some of the materials she beautifully used to create her pieces.
Brand ethos:
Her brand can be easily identified with shapes and patterns accompanied by earthly colours, with a touch of femininity and elegance.
