The Cannes Film Festival is usually one of the most star-studded and glamorous events on the fashion calendar, with A-list actresses and supermodels aplenty attending the two-week event, bringing their most show-stopping looks to the premieres and party circuit.

This year, however, as is the case with almost all major events, the annual festival has been cancelled in "its original form". Although organisers are working to put the event on in some way, perhaps virtually, we can be quite sure that there will be no red-carpet action for us to admire.

So, as a dose of glamour and escapism for you, we have rounded up 10 of the most beautiful dresses from the most recent couture collections that we would have loved to have seen on the Cannes Film Festival red carpet. Here's hoping that these incredible creations get the outing they deserve at some point in the near future.

To look back at some of our favourite dresses to have ever appeared at Cannes, head this way.
