10 Things You Should Know About Ruby Rose

Not just a beautiful face

Ruby Rose

It's only been three weeks since the Season 3 premiere of 'Orange is the New Black' aired, but the Netflix series has already been making waves both online and offline. That includes the show's latest character, Stella Carlin, played by current talk-of the-town Ruby Rose Langenheim (yes, that's her real name). We'll admit it: We were caught red (or rather, ruby) handed stalking her on her Instagram, and discovered that she is as gorgeous on the inside as she is outside. Not only is she a proud supporter of LGBT and anti-bullying campaigns, she encourages us to "be the person your dog thinks you are", too.

Here are 10 facts you should know about this rising Australian star, before you see her on TV screens again (Season 4, maybe?).

1. She's out and proud.

Ruby came out to her family and friends as gay at the age of 12. When asked what advice she'd give to those who struggle with coming out, she said, "I think its important to be true to yourself, but every situation is different and I find it hard to give advice because I myself was very lucky."

2. Sorry, but she's already taken!

And happily engaged to British fashion designer Phoebe Dahl, who is the granddaughter of author Roald Dahl and cousin of model Sophia Dahl.

3. She's an animal lover.

She and Phoebe have a dog named Ru and a cat named Cricket. Ruby has also been a longtime supporter of PETA and various other animal rights organizations.

6. Ironically, her claim-to-fame wasn't through acting.

Ruby first rose to fame when she entered herself into a modelling competition with Australian teen girls magazine, Girlfriend. She came in second, losing to Catherine McNeil, in which they dated before breaking up in 2010.
