Barbie-core’s chokehold on the fashion world is only going to get more intense as we count down to the movie’s global premiere on 20 July. That’s right, director Greta Gerwig’s masterpiece is finally here, and the star-studded cast has been serving some looks with major BBE – Big Barbie Energy. Of course, leading the charge is the blonde bombshell herself, Margot Robbie, rocking all-pink ensembles while promoting the movie around the world.
With a little over a week left to the release, the only question that remains is: what will we wear? Below, BAZAAR breaks down some Barbie-forward ‘fit ideas inspired by none other than Robbie herself – check ‘em out below.

When we think of Barbie, our minds jump straight to voluminous tutus made with yards of tulle –whimsical, feminine and extra. Take Robbie’s lead and add some sparkle with a bejewelled handbag and leather mules.
A pink halter dress is quintessential Barbie, but the doll is always on the lookout for trends to elevate her wardrobe and a little cutout never hurts. Complete the look with a pair of white slingbacks, a vibrant yellow shoulder bag and a stunning gold bracelet.
Is there anything Barbie can’t pull off? Robbie stepped out at the Mexico premiere in a swirl-printed dress that was a direct nod to the 1992 “Totally Hair” Barbie disco-esque dress. Go bold with candy-like jewellery and a bubblegum pink bag to top off the look.
Barbie’s closet is massive, and she doesn’t always gravitate to dresses. Sometimes a casual knitted sweater does the trick even when the sun is blazing down – just throw on a pair of cool sunglasses to counter those rays.
More is more and this sequinned number worn by Robbie in Sydney is everything. Of course, balance is key – leave the jewellery at home and slide into a pair of transparent heels.
Fans went wild for Robbie’s gingham dress when the Barbie teaser dropped last year. The Australian actress paid tribute to the costume at CinemaCon earlier this year in a similar two-piece.
Don’t mess around with this doll, because she means business. Inspired by the “Day to Night” Barbie, Robbie stunned South Korean fans with the get-up along with a retro, blinged-out cellular phone.
Barbie has been a shining star since her debut in the late ‘50s and she is still burning bright. Channel full movie-star Barbie energy with this sexy corset-minidress look, complete with blinding star earrings.
The Los Angeles movie premiere was a smash hit and Robbie surprised the crowd, and the Internet, by stepping out onto the pink carpet in a black sequin gown custom-made by Schiaparelli.
