While everyone looks forward to all the dazzling accessories on the red carpet at the Oscars, this year's breakout accessory turned out to be one tiny blue ribbon. We spotted the the ACLU-etched ribbons pinned to more than a handful of glamorous getups for a bold political statement. Celebrities and nominees such as Ruth Negga, Dr Luz-Towns Miranda, and Karlie Kloss all stylishly made a stand with the little blue ribbon on the red carpet.

More than just adding a pop of colour to the celebrities' elaborate red carpet getups, it was actually part of the “Stand With A.C.L.U.” initiative. The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), a non-profit organisation reached out to celebrities and nominees to support the organisation's ideals of defending and protecting the rights and liberties of individuals in America, including opposing newly-minted American president, Donald Trump's order of restricting travel for refugees and citizens of seven Muslim-majority countries.
