Blackpink's Jennie, Kristen Stewart, And Sparkle And Shine At Chanel Spring/Summer 2023
Time to shine in Chanel.
In this new space for the Chanel runway show—the Grand Palais Éphémère—a gigantic oval cinema wall was erected around the exhibition space with guests seated within a circular rotunda. A black and white movie played out by Kirsten Stewart filled the show space and was an Introduction to the runway that we were about to witness.
The mostly monochromatic collection, with touches of pink and gold, had one overriding theme—make it shine and sparkle. Glistening over socks covered in diamanté glistened as the pretty models walked around the runway space, with the cutest bags dangling by their sides—small dainty numbers like a golden cage etoile to new renditions of the famous quilted bags made their presence felt. Bows were highlighted on shoes and on the sides of playful mini dresses.
Day wear was a mixture of short skirt suits in candy tones and black and white cropped knits with a splice of bellybutton showing. Evening wear was a sheer feast with layers of diaphanous lace, chiffon and lame. Some came shorter with lots of leg and saucy over the knee socks, while the longer dresses played peekaboo with sheer layers. Tweed—a mainstay of the previous collection—came lighter and in pastel tones and only for a handful of looks. But it was the sparkles for feet, dress and bags that truly were the standout of the season. Time to shine in Chanel.
