This month, it’s all about the power of two.

A story written by fashion editor Aaron Kok struck a chord deep, deep, deep in my heart this month. Called “The Fashion Daddy’s Home”, it made me shudder. As I read the story, it became blindingly clear that ahem... I am that fashion daddy. Am I at that age where it’s about the new renaissance man finding his groove again?

To be honest, I have never lost my love for dressing up. From a decade in wild prints and colours to another in smart tailoring, today I have reversed-age-dressing by adopting a much more body hugging, skin-baring lewk. I have always embraced fashion trends and vibes. But yes, I guess I am that daddy. I admire the men Kok mentioned, from the stylish, sharply tailored threads of Colman Domingo in Valentino to the déshabillé style of James Bond alumnus Daniel Craig in LOEWE, they are the men who defy age.

I caught a glimpse of Rob Lowe, 61, at the Paris show of Stella McCartney last October, and I have to say he still makes my heart beat faster. Tanned, healthy, with an air of insouciance, this original Brat Pack leader’s strapping, toned body and chiselled jawline can still take on a guy half his age on the red carpet.

Good genes no doubt help, but a disciplined diet, a rigorous workout regimen and regular aesthetician visits ensure you stay looking fit and fabulous well into your 50s and beyond. Read this wonderful (though horrifyingly real!) piece on page 100 of our issue. At a time when we are all thinking that our 2024 wardrobes are a little boring and have seen better days, there’s a welcome return to colour, embellishment and maximalism this spring/summer.

“Unbridled Joy” talks about the death of minimalism and quiet luxury. Too long have we huddled into blacks, monotones, every shade of beige and athleisure. But of course, it doesn’t mean you have to rush out to the shops to completely overhaul your wardrobe. But it does mean that you can add a dramatic piece here and there to spice things up. Just check out our Accessories Special within the magazine where we take you through all the key trends from viral work bags to stacked heels to cowboy everything—think fringed adornments, hammered steel buckled belts and wonderful Cuban-heel boots.

This April, take time to dress up and revel in the feeling of what a lil’ sartorial joy can bring. Think colour, leopard print, bright and bold accessories, crazy shoes and perky makeup. The wonderful thing about dramatic pieces and a pop of wild colour is that they are great conversation starters. Don a head-turning silver Prada skirt or a sequinned Valentino dress. You don’t even have to say a word, just laugh, clink champagne flutes and let the bubbles rise.

Remember dear reader, you don’t dress for anyone—you dress for yourself. So go out there, have fun and don’t let wrinkles dictate your wardrobe choices. If anything, live as Daniel Craig advised, “I’m older and I care less”. And just like Bond’s classic martini, I might be shaken, not stirred.
