It’s Official: Atelier Versace Fall 2016 is a Red Carpet Hit
Everyone from Regina George to Jordanian royalty has embraced the collection

Donatella Versace’s Fall 2016 collection for Atelier Versace was, compared to recent outings, a lot more directional and challenging than fans of the Italian label are probably used to: oddly contrasting shades of duchesse satin were juxtaposed and draped in unusual places across the body, calling to mind Patrick Demarchelier’s indelible 1991 shot of Linda Evangelista, in a dramatic lilac opera coat with bright apple green lapels, cuffs and lining.
On the red carpet Versace has a long track record of surefire hits, and this collection was no exception despite its trickiness. Whether it was Rachel McAdam’s classic oyster grey and violet column gown, or Nicole Kidman’s edgy one-shouldered, cut-out and draped number, the collection’s celebrity success is proof that when it comes to look-at-me event dressing, Donatella is darn close to unbeatable.
