CALVIN KLEIN COLLECTION

Francisco Costa's touch was light at Calvin Klein Collection. Slip dresses, though simple in their outlook, bore all the trademarks of what makes a good Calvin Klein design: An easy minimalism, superb tailoring, and whiffs of sex.

MARC JACOBS

Guests were ushered into the Ziegfeld Theatre, a charming Old World movie theatre on Manhattan's 54th Street, where Marc Jacobs played out his ode to America on the big screen. A live feed of models stepping out from circus tents erected on the side of the street (before they circled the insides of the building) was beamed live onto Ziegfeld's giant movie screen. The clothes were a delightful mishmash of textures and layers—checks and the Star Spangled banner played supporting roles, while sequins dazzled every corner you looked.
