Burberry Kicks Off London Fashion Week With A Bond Street Takeover

Goodbye Bond Street, hello Burberry Street

London Fashion Week is in full swing again, and Burberry has something to show for it. In conjunction with Daniel Lee’s sophomore show for Burberry, the British luxury house has launched a series of city takeovers that “celebrate the art of discovery and exploration in cities worldwide”.

Titled 'Burberry Streets', the initiative kicked off this month with a takeover of Bond Street Station and North London’s beloved Norman’s Cafe. The station entrance, signage and iconic Transport for London roundels on the Central, Jubilee and Elizabeth line platforms have been plastered in knight blue, which Lee recently introduced as one of Burberry’s newest house symbols. Norman's Cafe, on the other hand, has put a playful take on the traditional greasy spoon, riffing on the likes of fried eggs and chips as well as sausage and mash. The takeover will also feature a roving ‘Burberry at Norman’s Cafe’ food truck on The Strand as well as Duke of York Square.

“Experiences, installations and events will unfold across the city—each showcasing the brand’s signatures, such as seasonal check in knight blue, rose print, and the newly redefined Equestrian Knight Design,” Burberry explained in a press release about the new initiative.

'Burberry Streets' will hit Seoul, South Korea and Shanghai, China in October.
