If you thought you saw the last of Christophe Lemaire's collaboration with Uniqlo, think again: The French designer (above, pictured centre) has been given a permanent role as artistic director at the brand's Research & Development centre in Paris. On top of that, he'll spearhead Uniqlo U together with a dedicated design team. The new line is based on the same ethos of comfort that drives the Japanese retailer's LifeWear series.

"Working on the Uniqlo and Lemaire collection (above), I found Uniqlo's commitment to product development, high quality, and teamwork truly impressive and inspirational," Lemaire said in a statement. "It is a challenge and a joy for me to be part of the team designing Uniqlo LifeWear—everyday clothing that resonates with people worldwide.”  Fall/Winter 2016 will see the debut of Uniqlo U, and if Lemaire's earlier works for Uniqlo are of any indication, we're guessing it'll be filled with timeless pieces that exude a quiet, effortless sensibility.
