ISABEL TAN (@PRETTYFROWNS)

THE LOUNGEWEAR ACE

This feisty 20-year-old styled up lingerie as daywear before it dominated the runways. A darling on the social media circuit, she confidently flaunts her bikini bod in sexy-feminine ensembles. With a lingerie collection of over 100 pieces, this is one girl who can make G-strings as elegant as her spiked heels.

How did you first take on the loungewear trend?

It all started with the concept of comfort. I didn’t like the fit of traditional wire bras. So in 2015, I swapped them up for lacy camisoles and bralets from niche American and Australian brands. They were so pretty that I styled them up as daywear.

What brands or styles do you like the most?

I love lacy bralets with a soft, feminine aesthetic in muted shades. LA brand, For Love & Lemons, served as a key starting point to my collection. I had the pleasure of collaborating with them on a project when they reached out to me a couple months ago—a personal coup as it’s one of my favourite brands, and I’m here in Singapore!

What is the secret to pulling off the loungewear look?

Confidence, above all else. Trust me, there are times when I’m at my fittest and hesitate wearing the same figure-hugging pieces that I did when I was flabbier, for which I blame jalapeño chips.

What are you current obsessions?

Noe Garments and Free People, and all the spring/summer 2016 collections that have embraced lingerie-inspired dressing, like Balenciaga, Alberta Ferretti and Chloé. My options are now pretty endless as a lot more brands have started producing tasteful loungewear.

What’s your most special piece?

My white lace, high-waisted set by For Love & Lemons. It’s feminine and elegant.
