When a bag is named Devotion, one can only imagine the amount of work—and love—that has gone into its creation. That is the case for Dolce & Gabbana’s latest offering, which also embodies the designer duo’s passion for fashion. “They are devoted to style, hard work, detail, innovation, religion, craftsmanship and creativity,” a release from the brand explained.
The exquisite bags kickstarted the proceedings at the brand’s fall/winter 2018 show by making their way down the catwalk on drones—Dolce & Gabbana’s technology-fuelled interpretation of a “fashion apparition”. Talk about making an unforgettable runway debut!
Besides the subtle matelassé detailing that gives the Devotion its elegance, the bag’s most distinguished feature is the ornate crest that adorns the flap. Referred to as the Sacred Heart and clad in 24-karat gold leaf, the symbolic feature is made from a centuries-old wax-casting technique called cire perdue.
The bag is available in black, red or white tones—classic hues that are not only known for their versatility, but their significance as well: Red famously stands for passion, while white symbolises innocence and purity.
