We remember Riccardo Tisci for his delightfully unexpected castings (actress Julia Roberts, transgender beauty Lea T. and singer-songwriter Erykah Badu have all graced past Givenchy campaigns) but his latest model might be even more compelling: Donatella Versace.
Tisci cast his fellow designer in the label's fall 2015 Family campaign, which, as his Instagram post indicates, was photographed by Mert & Marcus and styled by Carine Roitfeld. And, just in case the rarity of having a designer become the face of a competing label isn't clear enough, Donatella paid the favour back by tweeting the image from Versace's account with the words: "For my talented friend Riccardo. Together we break fashion boundaries today!"
You've got to love it when designers are truly friends, it really balks in the face of those stereotypes of the catty fashion community. We look forward to seeing who the next Givenchy "family" members will be, stay tuned!
