The era of fully swapping out your closet each season has gone the way of Twitter—still important to some, but less and less relevant as time goes on. The reality now is that fashion has become season-less. Resort collections once called Cruise due to its association with warm weather dressing now boast nearly as much fur and leather than even Fall lines (which hit retail in August by the way).
The women we look to for style inspiration don’t bother with the status quo of summer style anymore. Ladies who take fashion seriously with a capital S are skipping gladiators, slide and lace-up sandals in favor of full on leather booties. Kendall Jenner embraces an edgy boheme in leather shorts, a printed jacket and sleek, pointed black boots. Stylist Giovanna Battaglia and her designer sister Sarah Battaglia hit coastal Europe in sleek party looks paired with lug soled boots reminiscent of Louis Vuitton’s Fall runway—except worn seaside. Style blogger Evangelie Smyrniotaki of Style Heroine pairs a light white poplin halter dress by Loup Charmant with studded Celine booties and a basket bag. For an industry that has embraced the idea of high-low, it looks like heavy-light is the new frontier.
