Hood by Air designer Shayne Oliver has been hired at Helmut Lang.
The Business of Fashion reports that he will create a special collection of menswear, womenswear and accessories, which will be revealed in September 2017. The news comes after the brand’s chief executive, Andrew Rosen, recruited Dazed editor-in-chief Isabella Burley as its editor-in-chief. She is responsible for Oliver’s new appointment.
The announcement explains why luxe streetwear label Hood By Air – a favorite among fashion circles – cancelled its most recent Paris Fashion Week show.

A representative from the brand released the following statement: “Shayne is currently focusing his time on the special project with Helmut Lang. As a result, HBA will be continued but is transitioning to accommodate this. We will be releasing more information soon.”
Oliver is thought to be the first of many designers who will be enlisted to design special collections for Helmut Lang as it heads towards a new direction.
“Helmut Lang is a pioneering company and we are going back to its heritage of being bold,” said Rosen, who is also chief executive of Theory.
