Tommy Hilfiger knows how to commit to a theme. In the past, he’s morphed runways into football fields, ski resorts and Caribbean beaches but this season he’s taking things to the next level by transforming South Street Seaport into a “Tommy Pier” carnival for the brand’s New York Fashion Week show.
According to WWD, the September 9th show will unveil the designer’s Fall 2016 collaboration with Gigi Hadid. Tapping into the see now, buy now movement, a shoppable livestream will coincide on tommy.com at 7 PM EST as models walk the runway in real-time. All pieces from the show, including both the Tommy x Gigi Collection and the Hilfiger Collection, will be available to shop immediately after the show both online and in retail stores across the globe.
Slated to be one of NYFW’s biggest spectacles of the season, “Tommy Pier” will host a whopping 2,000 guests—half of which will be consumers. All your favorite carnival staples will be included from a 40-foot ferris wheel to games and rides along with token food items like hot dogs, hamburgers, ice cream sandwiches, cotton candy, donuts and French fries (which, let’s be honest, should really be readily available at every fashion show).
But the “Tommy Pier” extravaganza doesn’t stop at the finale model brigade. The pier will remain open to the public the following day (Saturday September 10th) from 12:00 PM to 9:00 PM with Tommy x Gigi pop-up shops, a vintage Tommy Hilfiger shop, record shop, nail art and temporary tattoos.
