A preview of what to expect from the forthcoming Costume Institute exhibition? We enter the bizarre world of Rei Kawakubo, where we explore the “Future of Silhouettes”. From exaggerated dress forms to strange other-wordly (almost extraterrestrial) shapes walk the runway, mostly made of recycled fabric waste. While some can interpret this as the a comment on the negative repercussions of fast fashion, others can see this as the eventual need for recycled material and garments.
Whatever the interpretation, there is no wrong answer when it comes to the wonderful world of Comme des Garçons.
