Fendi is celebrating its 90th anniversary in the Eternal City, Rome. Conventional wisdom suggests that to fully understand someone or something, knowledge of their backstory is imperative—metaphorically speaking, you need to walk in their shoes. In this case, it is worth knowing that Rome is the hearthstone of the Italian brand, harking back to the fact that its first-ever boutique opened here, in 1926. The city is so beautifully tangled with the brand that a walk around its streets posits a greater understanding about Fendi and its essence. Needless to say, in 2016, Fendi chose the city again to open its first hotel and largest flagship store.
The celebration will take place on 7 July at the Fontana di Trevi along with a fashion show—the first ever such show at the Fountain. (It was only last year that Fendi unveiled the restored Trevi Fountain—a project that the luxury house took upon itself in lieu of its creed to safeguard the city’s history; its monuments and traditions). The show, titled “Legends and Fairy Tales” is set to be fashionably bewitching; an experience that people will remember for years to come; as water and light dance in harmony with the collections on the catwalk.
Ending the occasion in true Italian fashion, Fendi will be hosting an elaborate dinner held at Pincio Terrace, Villa Borghese, where guests will dine alongside the most picturesque landscapes Rome has to offer.
