First Lady Jill Biden Wears Brandon Maxwell On Day One In The White House
She attended the virtual presidential inaugural prayer service this morning.
Dr. Jill Biden's First Lady style streak has officially begun.
This morning, the new FLOTUS opted for a custom fuchsia dress by American designer Brandon Maxwell as she attended an inaugural prayer service at the White House with her family, Vice President Kamala Harris, and Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff.

She paired the wool crepe sheath dress, which featured a tulip hem, with a matching face mask and nude pumps. Dr. Biden completed the look with a handful of accessories: layered pearl necklaces and bracelets, gold bangles, and a gold watch.
With the decision to wear Maxwell, the First Lady continues to show her support for U.S. designers. Maxwell, who was born in Texas, bases his eponymous brand in New York City. Before launching the label in 2015, he was a stylist and fashion director for Lady Gaga, who sang the national anthem at yesterday's swearing-in ceremony.

The First Lady's rosy-hued number follows the turquoise coat and dress by the NYC-based brand Markarian she wore on Inauguration Day. Later that evening, she followed up with a white coat and silk dress by Gabriela Hearst, both embroidered with the official flowers of every U.S. state and territory. The design was a subtle nod to the new administration's mission of national unity.
Dr. Biden, a longtime educator who plans to continue teaching full time during her husband's presidency, has more up her sleeve than thoughtful, intentional fashion. As she promised at the Democratic National Convention, "[Joe] and Kamala will work as hard as you do every day to make this nation better. And if I have the honor of serving as your First Lady, I will, too."
