Not only is Riccardo Tisci moving his latest fashion week show from Paris to New York, but he's opening the doors to the general public.

Turning the concept of the ultra-exclusive, invite-only fashion show on its head, the designer will welcome 1200 "real people"—in addition to the usual press, buyers and celebrity guests—to watch his latest collection unveiling during New York Fashion Week on 11 September.

The French fashion house is working closely with the City of New York on the event, reports WWD, which will see 820 of the tickets made available on a first come-first served basis via the nycgo.com website. The full website URL will be released later today, with tickets available from tomorrow. A block of 280 tickets has been reserved for students and teachers at local fashion colleges including Parsons, FIT, Pratt Institute and the High School for Fashion Industries. A further 100 tickets will be distributed to residents living close to the as-yet-undisclosed show venue.
