Givenchy’s Antigona is one of the brand’s most iconic handbag styles. First launched in 2010, it quickly became a sought-after bag by celebrities such as Kate Moss, Hailey Bieber, Lily Aldridge, Olivia Palermo, and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, to name a few.

For spring summer 2021, creative director Matthew M. Williams has redesigned the emblematic Antigona accessories line, blending his love of industrial hardware with Givenchy hallmarks, subtly infusing the Antigona’s elegant geometry with generous volumes, a modern attitude and futuristic edge.

Named after the passionate and courageous Greek heroine, the new Antigona is crafted from Box-finish calfskin and pays homage to its lineage with a scaled-up version of its characteristic pentagonal patch and two signatures (a 4G in front and ‘GIVENCHY’ lettering at the back).

The bag’s handles are now elongated and anchored lower to optimise versatility of wear. A roomy central compartment features either a zip or a magnetic closure, both finished with a 4G padlock, while a version of the mini Antigona and the unisex Vertical bag come with a removable strap for cross-body wear, in leather or the new G-link chain respectively.

The Antigona family’s youngest sibling, the versatile, unisex Antigona Soft has received a new companion in the form of a sleek shopper tote with strong, squared lines, drop-length handles and a 4G padlock, while the designer’s most masculine interpretation of the style comes in the form of the new Antigona U crossbody bag.

Custom-designed by Williams, the 4G padlocks that adorn the collection are inspired by the celebrated “love locks” of Paris.

To help showcase the new Antigona accessories line and the full spring summer 21 collection, Williams called on Kendall Jenner, Bella Hadid, Playboi Carti, Anok Yai and Liam Powers to put their own stamp on key pieces. The global advertising campaign was shot by Korean-born German photographer Heji Shin and produced under the supervision of Givenchy's creative director.

The refreshed range of Antigona leather handbags are available in a range of timeless neutrals and seasonal shades of pink and red.
