Haute Couture Fashion Week: 10 Best Looks From Dior Spring 2020
Maria Grazia Chiuri examines the complex relationship between feminism and femininity
Behind a collection visually rich in its lustrous wolven golds and voluminous silks, Maria Grazia Chiuri for Dior examines the complex relationship between feminism and femininity. With the show set inside an installation making homage to the female form in the garden of Musée Rodin, a giant tapestry reading “What if Women Ruled the World?” (both designed by American artist Judy Chicago), a message of female empowerment was received loud and clear. Also a clear theme was Chiuri’s continued exploration of classicism, this time inspired from classical representations of goddesses. Indeed, dressed in peplos inspired evening gowns and golden laurels, the models could have walked right out of a Botticelli painting.
