Known for her lavish gowns, elaborate construction and intricate embroidery techniques, Guo Pei is one couturier firmly rooted in Chinese heritage and culture. Her Spring 2019 collection, titled East Palace, was a stunning presentation of palatial extravagance and ceremonial resolve—think floral patterns, sculpted shapes, luxurious fabrics and embroidered dragon motifs on models who glided along the runway on carved oriental heels.
