Organic and digital, macro and microbial, crystalline and fluid - these are diverse worlds that seem inherently contradictory, and yet are harmonious in the universe of Iris Van Herpen. This season’s couture collection ‘Sensory Sea’ draws inspiration from the human central nervous system and its parallels with marine microorganisms. Innovative techniques involving 3D printing, laser cutting and multi-layered oil-painting created strange but beautiful silhouettes, bringing to mind a deep ocean garden, where fantastical creatures floated in their multitude of colours.
